Hongxi and his younger sister Panqing are male-female twins born at the Bifengxia Panda Base on August 4, 2016, to their mother Xidou. In 2025, a male cub fathered by Hongxi and born to Manlan in Lanzhou became the first giant panda cub bred in captivity in Gansu, adding a distinctive breeding milestone to Hongxi’s life story.
