Hui Bao and her older twin sister Rui Bao were born on July 7, 2023, becoming the first pair of giant panda twins born in South Korea. Because giant panda mothers often have difficulty caring for two newborns at once, Ai Bao and the care team alternated the cubs between maternal care and supplemental care during their first weeks. At about 100 days old, a public naming campaign gave her the name Hui Bao, meaning “shining treasure.”
