In 1992, Liangliang became the first male giant panda at Beijing Zoo capable of natural mating, a breeding breakthrough achieved after long-term targeted training. Among the offspring he sired with Yongyong was Yongming, who later lived in Japan; through Yongming, Liangliang’s bloodline extended into Shirahama’s ‘Hama family.’
