Longlong and his younger twin sister Fengfeng were the first male-female twins born to Lousheng, on August 18, 2009. After an outbreak of canine distemper among captive giant pandas in Shaanxi at the end of 2014, Longlong repeatedly tested negative during treatment, but later developed neurological symptoms and tested positive again. He ultimately died from kidney failure. He was the only male among the five giant pandas that died in the outbreak.
