Meng Xiang and his younger twin brother Meng Yuan were born at Berlin Zoo on August 31, 2019, becoming the first pair of giant panda cubs born in Germany. Berlin Zoo has long called him “Pit.” As a cub, keepers noted that Meng Xiang stayed closer to his mother than his brother did and took a more active part in daily clicker training. In December 2023, the twins ended more than four years in Berlin and returned to China.
