Xiang Xiang was the first giant panda born through natural breeding at Ueno Zoo to grow up successfully. She was born there on June 12, 2017. She was originally scheduled to return to China at the end of 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic and transport constraints led to five postponements. She finally returned to China on February 21, 2023.

Made her first public appearance at Ueno Zoo on December 19; viewing was allocated through an advance-application lottery.

Began living independently
Ended full-time living with her mother, Shin Shin, on December 10 and began living independently.
Returned to China
Ended her stay at Ueno Zoo and returned to China on February 21; she then moved into the Bifengxia Panda Base of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda.
