Xiaoya was born at the Shaanxi Rare Wildlife Rescue, Breeding and Research Center on September 15, 2014. Her easiest identifying feature was the pair of tufts on top of her head that looked like two little buns. That slightly untidy “double-bun” hairstyle also made her widely recognizable online.
