Beginning in 1992, Chuanchuan of Shanghai Zoo made repeated trips to Chongqing to breed with Xinxing, establishing a long-running giant panda breeding partnership between the two zoos. Their first cub, Chuanxing, was born in 1992, and they went on to produce more offspring as the cross-city partnership continued for over a decade.
