Guoqing was born at 1:50 p.m. on September 30, 2019, at Chimelong Safari Park, to mother Meiqing. Because the following day marked the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, she was named “Guoqing.” As she grew, a small tuft of hair on top of her head and the way her ears stand up like little horns while she eats became easy identifying features.
