Longzai was born at Chimelong Safari Park in 2018. The birth marked a new stage in the South China giant panda breeding program by producing a second-generation cub. At a little over two months old, Longzai received what Chimelong called the “ID card for South China’s first surviving second-generation panda,” numbered 008, which also gave rise to the nickname “Little Eight.”
