Zhizhi’s name is closely tied to a public ambassador role. In December 2020, the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League and the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda officially named her Zhizhi. Together with Yuanyuan, she became a “Panda Hero” ambassador for Sichuan youth volunteer culture—the first time giant pandas had served in this kind of ambassador role within China’s volunteer-service sector.
