The name Qibao is best understood together with that of older sister Qizhen: both siblings carry the character Qi from their mother Haoqi, while Zhenbao means a rare and precious treasure. The two giant pandas were born at Chongqing Zoo on September 13, 2021, the first mixed-sex twin litter of Haoqi. In 2022, Qibao was symbolically adopted through a public-welfare sponsorship program and also received the name Xiong Xiaokai.
