Haoqi was born at Chongqing Zoo on August 23, 2013. Soon afterward, Nobel Prize–winning physicist Samuel C. C. Ting visited the zoo and gave her the name Haoqi, meaning “curiosity,” which became one of the most distinctive stories attached to her identity. Haoqi first became a mother in 2021, giving birth to mixed-sex twins Qizhen and Qibao. In 2024, she had another daughter, later named Qiying.
