As a cub, Hanyuan was fond of “looking in the mirror.” At a 2009 press event about giant pandas for the Shanghai World Expo, a Wolong expert said Hanyuan often watched her reflection beside a pool and even stared at the image in a milk bottle. Compared with twin brother Youyou, who loved rough-and-tumble play, Hanyuan was described as the more well-behaved of the two. Hanyuan later joined Youyou in the 2010 Shanghai World Expo giant panda program.
