Born

From Wolong to Beijing, and later through shared care of a cub between Beijing and Ya’an, part of Yinghua’s story reflects cross-institution giant panda breeding cooperation. Yinghua was born at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda on August 17, 2003, and moved to Beijing Zoo in 2005 under an individual exchange arrangement. In 2010, Yinghua gave birth to the world’s first giant panda twins born that year; one cub was sent to the Bifengxia Panda Base in Ya’an on the night of birth for cross-fostering.
