The nickname “Pang Dahai” came from Fuxing’s especially noticeable appearance as a cub: when the 2017 giant panda cubs made a group debut, he was visibly larger than the others and his fur also had a pinkish cast for a time. Fuxing was born on June 25, 2017, to Yinghua and Lulu. The nickname stuck and became closely associated with him.
