Mengmeng was born in Wolong on September 13, 2006, and moved to Beijing Zoo while still young. As an adult, she traveled to Chengdu for cooperative breeding and had five cubs there: Mengda, Menger, Menglan, Mengbao and Mengyu. The family gradually became one of Beijing Zoo’s most recognizable panda lineages, often known as the “Meng family.”
