Born

In 1999, two-year-old Dingding moved from Wolong to Shaanxi. Linlin had originally been expected to go to Shaanxi but ultimately remained in Sichuan, so the two sides exchanged Dingding instead in consideration of population genetic diversity. Dingding thereby became one of the early giant pandas used to establish Shaanxi’s captive breeding population.
