Pingping

平平

Life status: Living
Born: July 6, 2008

Pingping’s story is closely tied to the rebuilding of Wolong after the Wenchuan earthquake. Her pregnant mother Guoguo lived through the earthquake and was transferred to Ya’an, where she gave birth to Pingping and her twin brother An’an on July 6, 2008—the world’s first giant panda twins born after the Wenchuan earthquake. Experts at the center described Pingping as relatively quiet and fond of climbing trees. In 2010, she also became one of the “Expo pandas” sent to Shanghai.
