Yaya was born in 2009 at the Qinling Giant Panda Research Center and is Zhuzhu's daughter. She began participating in breeding pairings in 2017 and suffered miscarriages in three consecutive years. After obstetric examinations and later miscarriage-prevention measures by the research team, she successfully gave birth to male-female twins on July 31, 2021. The center regarded this success as an important practical case in the clinical diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of difficult births in giant pandas.
