Born

Fulong was born on August 23, 2007, at Schönbrunn Zoo in Vienna, becoming the first giant panda born at a European zoo following conception through natural mating. A conspicuous patch of white fur on his right hind foot, like a white sock, remained visible from cubhood into adulthood and was still an easy way for zoo staff to recognize him after his return to China.
