Life status: Living
Born: August 9, 2016

Heyu entered the rewilding research pathway early in life. Beginning in 2017, she and Xingchen underwent semi-wild training at Panda Valley as part of a human-assisted soft-release program, gradually transitioning entirely to natural foods and learning to forage for natural bamboo and find water independently. In 2018, the two moved to the Daxiangling Giant Panda Wild Training and Releasing Base for further pre-release transitional training.
