One of the most important chapters in Sixue’s life was her role as a mother in giant panda rewilding training. Her daughter Yingxue learned foraging, habitat selection and danger recognition while following her mother and was successfully released into the wild in 2017. Keepers at Shanghai Wild Animal Park also described Sixue as gentle and experienced at raising cubs.

Born at Hetaoping Wild Training Base
Sixue was born at the Hetaoping Wild Training Base of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda on July 22, 2006.

Entered the third cohort of the mother-and-cub rewilding program
Sixue left Bifengxia Panda Base for the Wolong wild training base on May 30, 2012, entering the third cohort of the mother-and-cub rewilding program.

Gave birth to Xuexue and joined mother-and-cub rewilding training
Sixue gave birth to her daughter Xuexue on August 15, 2012, and took part in mother-and-cub rewilding training with her.

After completing rewilding training, Sixue’s daughter Xuexue was released into Sichuan Liziping National Nature Reserve on October 14, 2014.
