In 2009, Wang Wang and Funi arrived at Adelaide Zoo, becoming the first giant pandas to live in the Southern Hemisphere and taking part in China–Australia giant panda conservation research. After 15 years in Australia, the pair returned to China together in 2024, making that long overseas stay a defining part of Wang Wang’s story.
