In 2018, Huabao and Jin Baobao traveled to Finland for giant panda conservation research, becoming the first giant pandas ever received by Finland and the Nordic region. From more than 4,000 candidate names, the Finnish public chose the local name “Pyry” for him, meaning heavy snowfall. On November 23, 2024, Huabao ended his stay in Finland and returned to China.

Huabao was born at Bifengxia Panda Base of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda on July 10, 2013.

On January 16, 2016, Huabao moved to Linyi Zoological and Botanical Garden for a loan exhibition.

On October 13, 2017, Huabao left Linyi and returned to Sichuan, then moved to the Dujiangyan Base of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda.

On January 17, 2018, Huabao and Jin Baobao left the Qingchengshan Base in Dujiangyan for Ähtäri Zoo in Finland, beginning giant panda conservation research cooperation between China and Finland.

On March 3, 2018, the giant panda house at Ähtäri Zoo opened, and Huabao and Jin Baobao formally met the public.
