Jingjing was born at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding on August 30, 2005, to Yaya and Kebi. After Beijing’s Olympic mascot “Jingjing” was unveiled, keepers gave the still-unnamed cub the same name. The giant panda that actually served as the design model for Fuwa Jingjing was her older sister Maomao (Fuwa).
