Meibang was born at Adventure World in Shirahama, Wakayama, on September 13, 2008, with her younger twin brother Yongbang. Their birth made their mother Rauhin the first giant panda born in Japan to later give birth there successfully. Adventure World later remembered Meibang as a panda who loved naps and tended to move at her own pace, with a round face resembling her mother’s. In 2013, Meibang returned to China with Yongbang, and in 2016 she gave birth to her daughter Meilan.
