“Rourou” has long been used as Meilan’s nickname, even by keepers. Meilan was born on May 29, 2016, the daughter born in Meibang’s first litter. Records from the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding Foundation have repeatedly noted Meilan’s rounded build and especially distinctive eyes. Meilan can also open doors independently and may spend long stretches playing with tree roots.
