Qiyi

奇一

Life status: Living
Born: July 1, 2016

Qiyi and her twin sister Qiguo were born on July 1, 2016. A tuft of fur on top of Qiyi’s head, often compared with a Wi-Fi symbol, has made her easy to recognize since she was a cub. In 2017, a video of her repeatedly clinging to a keeper’s leg spread widely in China and overseas. Her keepers explained that the behavior reflected the strong curiosity and desire to explore typical of a young giant panda. The clip also made Qiyi one of the early giant pandas to become an international internet celebrity.
