As a cub, Siyi went through an unusual change in maternal care: when mother Siyuan began caring for Yuanrun, Siyi was cared for by Xiaoyatou and grew up alongside Xiaoqie. In later long-term observations, Siyi was described as gentle and steady and often initiated hugs with companions, making social behavior one of the panda’s most recognizable traits.
