Danhonggao and his older twin brother Reganmian were born on March 17, 2020. At their one-month naming, members of the Sichuan medical team that had supported Hubei chose the name Danhonggao, after a Chengdu snack, linking a familiar piece of Sichuan life with their good wishes for Hubei.

Danhonggao was born at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding on March 17, 2020. Together with his older twin brother Reganmian, he formed the earliest-in-the-year giant panda twin pair ever recorded at the Chengdu base.

Officially named Danhonggao
On April 17, 2020, members of the Sichuan medical team that had supported Hubei took part in officially naming him Danhonggao. The same medical team also received the twins’ adoption certificates.
