Qingxiao later received the formal name “Diandian.” He and his older twin brother Qiqi were born on September 16, 2015. The brothers later became the world's first pair of animal ambassadors for the United Nations Development Programme's Sustainable Development Goals. More than 5,000 people from 116 countries and regions took part in the global naming campaign; “Diandian” carries the sense of “lighting up,” and together with “Qiqi” suggests a new starting point for development.
