From birth, Taotao was raised for life in the wild. In 2010, he became the world’s first giant panda cub born in a rewilding training enclosure and spent more than two years in mother-led cub training with his mother Caocao. After his release into Liziping in 2012, he survived in the wild over the long term, helping demonstrate the effectiveness of this rewilding approach.
