Zhichun has twice taken part in the “mother-and-cub” rewilding training program with her young. Keepers minimize human intervention as much as possible so that cubs are raised by Zhichun from birth in a near-natural environment and learn survival skills from their mother. In 2023, a keeper responsible for the rewilding program specifically recorded that this was Zhichun’s second time serving in this “teacher” role.
