Xingfan was born at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding on August 12, 2016, the younger twin sister of Xinghui. As cubs, the siblings both loved climbing trees and often went so high that keepers had to work hard to bring them back down. On January 22, 2019, Xingfan and Xinghui arrived in Nantong, becoming the first pair of giant pandas ever welcomed by the city.

Xinghui was born at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding on August 12, 2016, with his younger twin sister Xingfan. His face has a more angular shape, and he remained lively and active as he grew. On January 22, 2019, Xinghui and Xingfan arrived in Nantong, becoming the first giant pandas ever brought to the city.
